Like usb used to be - things have it, but not enough to really make an impact although a lot more are including it in stuff now. If mobos had it by default more and more would take it up.
I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!
I use it to connect my laptop and pda to my network. Easy and cheap
There's no other suitable technology for PANs. In a PC sense it's dead but in a consumer electronics sense it's only just getting going.
Well I never. I'm sure I read it somewhere that bluetooth was already dead or dying. Can't remember for the life of me where it was. It must have been at the "lukewarm begining" as hexeh says that I read it...
there was sommit on the register recently, ment to be a replacement for bluetooth out soon.
Wireless USB will be out in the near future, which may overtake bluetooth :/
I find my bluetooth kit to be buggy and slow anyway.
Well said mate. Thats where I got my ideas from. Bad experiences with bluetooth in the past. Wireless USB could be annoying though, having batteries in everything, tis a bit crazy, wouldn't mind a nice wireless joystick though! (they probably to make them, never heard of them though)Originally Posted by Rabs

Anything cool/useful I could try out to sway my mind about bluetooth?
Linking your mobile, PDA and computer together. WLAN is far too power-hungry and way overspecced for mobile devices. Bluetooth headsets for mobiles. Using your PC mic/speakers as a headset for your mobile in another room. Using a P900 and opera to browse the internet over a bluetooth connection to a broadband-linked PC.
bluetooth ?
hmmm
well its good and its bad, its alive and kickin in the mobile market, but i dont see why, as a networking interconnection it is dead, as its too slow and theres no point
why did they bring it to mobile phones? i dont know ! its crap, better than IRDA, granted but why not wifi ? its many times faster, and more compatible, could make good use of them wifi hotspots for broadband internet access to ! but no, bluetooth it is, slow and boring, its good between phones but nothing else, some reason mobile manus love it tho. if they replaced bluetooth in phones with wifi, bluetooth = dead, however i dont think they will, not for time anyway so buetooths here, and here to stay even tho it may not be as useful as other network connections
