    Thumbs up Blisteringly fast SN85G4v2 + x800

Hi, I'm new(ish) to the forum, and definitely a n00b to the SFF world.

For those of you thinking about making a break into the shuttle market but having doubts, I just wanted to share with you the success I've had with a build I put together last wk. It's working like a charm:-

    Shuttle SN85G4v2
    Athlon 64 3400+
    1GB Kingston HyperX PC3200 (running @ 2-3-2-6, 2.7v)
    Wireless Logitech Keyb/Mouse, etc.
    120gb SATA Maxtor 7200 HDD
    Dell 1800FP TFT
    SB Audigy 2ZS

I picked up an X800 pro whilst waiting for the XT to come out, and have just finished installing windows/drivers etc and peformed my first 3dmark 2k3 at stock speeds. Using the Cat 4.7 beta, I managed to get a respectable 10,174 3dmarks! Overclocking the card to 525/550 earned me an even higher ranking of 11,400. This is all will the case lid on and no mods to the case/components at all... The hottest parts in this beast are the hard disk (46-51 degrees - it seems the fault lies with Maxtor, and since have had Samsung recommended to me) and the PSU (50 idle, 57 full).

I thought about waiting for the 939 SFF, but as it doesn't sport PCI-E and I got a cheap deal on the processor, I wasn't all that fussed (that can wait till next yr).

    I'm happy as larry!
