So back to booting from DVD then.
So back to booting from DVD then.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Hmm, have you checked that the power cables and sata cables haven't come loose?
Technically if it is showing your hard drive as the C: drive, where has the SSD gone??? As that should be set to the first boot device.
As from what I gather you have 3 drives, 1 SSD, 1 HD and a dvd drive.
Is it possible your bios has been reset?
Jon
been on the phone to a Scan help desk and he recons the SSD drive has failed so I need to get that replaced.
I have set up an old laptop for the moment but it is running XP. However, I was using the windows backup utility to an external HDD on the W7 pc to back up some of my data but when I brows the drive from my XP machine I cant find the files I want to move over to the XP machine.
Anyone familiar with this backup and how to find the exact files I want - have tried opening up every directory but no luck.
Is it because they are just a back up for that specific machine?
Again, thanks for any help given
Windows backup is split into 2 parts: Disk images and File Backups.
If you just choose the system image, then that is all you will get....a complete image of the HDD. This is VERY fast to restore but will not let you selectively restore individual files.
The file backups will let you restore files, they are contained within CAB files in the backup location.
