tbh the difference between tight and looser timings is only worth a few % speed increase and this stuff is £60 more than the Ram you bought, so If I were you, I would not worry to much.Originally Posted by ben_wade
Just enjoy your 1 GB of Ram, Ben and think of the money you saved.
Not at all ben. The ram you have is guaranteed to be great. Crucial has proved itself time and time again- i cant see as the extra cash for better timing is worth it myself.Originally Posted by ben_wade

If you press shift several times whilst playing it brings up the sticky keys box and then you can check task manager
When i tried that it said it was only using about 450MB
My Matrix Orbital display has my RAM usage. Lol

What's wrong with task manager!?
It means I don't have to minimise the game

ah rite, yea i get it now
Why does it run fine on my rig (256mb) on medium?
because you have it on medium?
I have to say that mine ran badly on medium with 256MB
Im playing mine at 1280x1024 (default option in the ati control panel) medium AA full AF, Everything on highest possible settings except lighting and shadows which are on high (render mode tropical- but that doesnt make much of a diference).
On most levels it plays brilliantly with 512ram. Levels such a the fort and bunker especially as its all indoors, you wouldnt know there was a problem. But a level like the factory with hundreds of guards... very jerky!
Some levels really need a gig of memory. Performance in general has increased by disabling eax and doppler effect is it? Still got lovely dolby 5.1 at high sound quality.
I think the 1.2 patch patch is going to help significantly- though the big perfomance increases will be seen by x800pro/xt and 6800gt/ultra owners
Remember we all probably judge fine differently i get miffed if the framerate drops below 50
Heh thats about my midpoint, i get annoyed at about 40 and am happy with >60.. tho if it is <60 i up the detail a bitOriginally Posted by steve threlfall
