SCSI raid rox. Both cards let you configure the drives from the BIOS. Effectively the OS will see a single drive. You can add software to the OS to notify you of any build problems with the array.
Just bought an Intel SRCU31A from the bay of fleas for £60, so any tips/advice would be appreciated

get yourself here and get downloading.
Flash it to the latest version, then boot into the BIOS and create the array.
Install the OS, update the drivers, then install the storcon utils.
