Hi guys
I finally got round to sending back a semi-dead 80gb Western Digital Special Edition, but went with the advance RMA option so i could back up the data that was still readable. Fill in the forms on the WD site and my new drive turns up a few days later. I backup all my data, then go onto the WD site to get the return address which is part of the 'RMA Mailer' section on the WD site, but there is a problem with the site and i cannot access it.
So i send off an email saying that i cant access it, and the next day a courier (Business Post to be exact) turn up and request the drive. I had no reply to my email, but what in my situation what would seem the right thing to do? a guy from business post requesting a 'dead western digital hard drive' comes to my door, the day after i email WD saying i cant access the correct part of the site. So I give him the drive thinkin at least its saved me a few quid on postage.
a month later, check my credit card statement and i have been charged $66 which is the amount stated by WD would be charged if they do not receive the old drive. Look on their site, cannot find a UK support number, so i reluctantly send them another email. They say they didnt receive the drive and the tracking number i give them prooves nothing. So i reply and say well you arranged the courier should it not be your responsibility to find out where it is? Then comes the reply that confuses me: apparantly, 'they didnt arrange anything....they have no affiliation with business post'.
I phone business post (yay a company that uses the phone) and they say that it was arranged by 'Microland' which is a PC shop in stockport, whom i had never heard of until now. So far I've not been able to contact these guys, phoned them in hours on friday and no answer.
Send another email off to WD saying since you have no affiliation with business post, do you have any with microland, because why else would they have interest in the drive and pay for a courier to pick it up?
To that ive still had no reply.
What do you think i should do?
Cheers
Tom
