What to order?

Ok, i have an unlocked 1700+ running at 200x9.5. It's under an Aero7, keeping at, reportedly, 40-50. I also have 2x256Mb TwinMOS PC3200 RAM.

I have £60 to spend, so i could either: Get a barton 2500+, Get better cooling and overclock more, get 512MB more RAM, or...

What should i do people? And please refrain from the standard "save for...", as money burns a hole in my pocket and will otherwise be spent on Dairylee dunkers if i don't order something soon

Depending on what motherboard you have, get a mobile Barton 2500+ from CPUcity

Well the happy news is that the mobile will run fine on that.
doubling the ram will probably give you more of a performance boost though

I have an XP-M2500+ running on a A7N8X-E, it's not a great performer as it doesn't like high FSB's. You'd be able to get it running at 11x200MHz no probs, but wouldn't see much more than that I don't think. 1.9GHz to 2.2GHz worth £60? Don't think so.

The only cooling I would suggest is water, but you'll get the block and a few metre's of tubing for £60... so unless you're gonna suck water through the system from a bath, that ain't gonna work.

What do you want to do with your machine? If you game, another 512MB stick might give you better performance. Would you consider a new board too? The Abit NF7-S v2 or the DFI NFII Ultra Infinity are much better for overclocking than the Asus.

Buy some more ram, it seems to be where your subsystem is hurting the most. I'd wait until dual core comes out to upgrade to A64. 1.9ghz is fine for just about any situation, it's not like it's going to screw you over.

Definitely a mobile CPU (2500 or 2600) most can hit 2.4 GHz , 512 mb memory is fine.
What graphics card are u using?
