Dual CPU Motherboards - Opetron/Xeon

Hi,

I looking into buying a Dual CPU computer.
I wanted to know if there is a dual Opetron motherboard that I can use PCI-X Graphic cards.
Can the Tyan Thunder K8W (S2885) or S2882 use PCI-X video cards?
Now is there a difference between PCI-X and PCI-Express? whats PCI-e?
Basically I want a AMD based dual CPU motherboard that will support PCI-X video cards sinse there is no single CPU motherboard for AMD that supports PCI-X Video cards.
With intel Xeon is simpler (Tyan Thunder i7525 S2676).

What you want doesn't yet exist:

PCI-e = PCI Express; This is what the new graphics card interface is called (in its 16x form).

PCI-X is something different (64 bit PCI), and is used in servers (has been for years), there aren't PCI-X graphics cards.

You may well be in luck by the end of the year, as the NForce4 chipset will apparently come in a workstation version for Dual Opterons. Pair that with a coulple of SLI 6800s (or FireGLs ) and you'd have one hell of a workstation.

BTW I also thought about Dual 2.0Ghz Powermac G5...
I will use it for:
Audio recording+editing, Video editing, Photoshop, Gaming...

i'am also thinkin of gettin a dual cpu pc, using the Tyan Thunder i7525 S2676ANRF and was wondering if i was right in thinkin that it would be compatible with a 6600 gt pci-e graphics card

PCI-X graphics cards does exist but only matrox makes them.

If you want both PCIe and PCIx, Newest Xeon boards or New Opteron boards (Iwill and Tyan).

PCI-X is the current generation of server-level expansion slot, most SCSI, RAID and fast GbE adapters runs on PCI-X. Maximum speed at the moment is 133Mhz (1066MB/s). Good about it is it can support all other old PCI cards.

PCIe is the newest generation expansion slot, newest graphics cards use it. New devices are coming out on PCIe too. Bad thing is it does not support old PCI card at all.

PCIe and PCI-X will continue (like Intel and AMD going different socket) but new high-end cards will have both PCIe and PCI-X offering.

If you are going to need high end graphics you better get a PCIe board, since PCIe graphic cards are more powerful than those available on PCI-X (and cheaper).

The Tyan K8WE board is interesting with SLI and PCI-X.
