I recently set-up a D-link G604T to find out it sounds like a kettle!
Am i right in thinking a WAG54G is silent?

Yup silent as a silent thing
If you've got a routed block of static IP's - DO NOT buy the linksys. I have one and I hate it, helped on by linksys actually stopping responding to my emails stating they did not understand what I wanted to do.... sure I had a thread on this somewhere.
EDIT: Mine makes a bit of a TV on standby noise when turned on, but that goes away after about 10-20 seconds and then it's silent.

TVs make a noise when in standby!?!?
Most do, a very high pitched noise - not everyone can hear it, depends on your hearing threshold (or some scientific term I don't know). My friend had a PSU that did the same (although even when it was on). Hopefully someone else knows what I'm talking about.... I'm feeling a bit crazy otherwise :S

Yeah i know what you mean, like you can tell when i tv is turned on in a room when you arent in it because of the high pitched noise.
Yep. If I'm sleeping in a front room I'll have to turn the TV off (i.e. not on standby) because of the noise. Glad I'm not alone on this one!
I'll try and find some of the responses from linksys - though I think I may have deleted them a while back, they're quite amusing (now - at the time more like infuriating).
I should also mention I had the Linksys Wireless G PCI Card - that broke after 2 weeks. RMA and the eBay for that. That is after calling tech support, getting put through to someone in the states who blatantly was just reading off a flowchart thing, asking if I could hold on, then asking me to do stuff I've already said I've tried. Also not a toll free number in the UK, it is if you live in the USA.
Rant over, sorry!
