So let me re-phrase what you are saying.

You want 2 PCs, one simple one and one speed monster

Let me help you there... You could do with a NAS/home server. I'm sure you can find a reason. A cheap APU would be ideal for that

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

Of course I'm happy with my system - I built it myself

Don't really use the 5 GHz OC profile much nowadays as I tend to use the PC more for netflix or audio at the moment as opposed to playing intensive games such as skyrim so its generally set at 4.5 GHz or 4.6 GHz so it has a quieter fan profile applied.

I'm even happy with windows 8.1 and I bet you don't hear that much do you!

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

Yep happy. I used to have a core2duo system which I ran for years and was very happy with that especially after upgrading to SSD and adding a new graphics card. Now I'm on a 4670k and matx board. If anything I'm only looking at a new case and some water cooling to overclock with but still happy.

Happy with Windows 8.1? You are having us all on you may be the first person I have heard saying they're happy with it

But no honestly I am surprised how many of you are happy with your systems I think you hit a point after the years of searching when you find that sweet spot, I'm still searching for it!

This is the problem, I really shouldn't have broadband or any type of Internet access

I am happy with my current spec, its all working in a perfect balance does everything quickly and all software is spot on (including windows 8.1).

Even my netbook is perfect, its an AMD C50 apu and 4GB ram with a 1366x768 screen, perfect for a bit of surfing on the sofa.

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

My parts are on the way. Still running my old psu and whatnot but did go for the upgrade to the sabertooth board!!! I was more interested in durability as I have brought my rig places. Then The 4770k unlocked processor along with 16gb or cl9 gskill sniper 1866 ram. My old gtx 460 is gonna have to wait I spose. Expensive upgrades.

I hear the i7 is all about the overheat tho. I am a little worried as I do want to overclock to a stable 4.2 or so.

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

I've recently upgraded my HD6990 to an EVGA GTX780Ti SC ACX card so you'd think I'd be entirely happy right?

Well here's the thing, I want to get a 27" 2560x1440 monitor, but I'm torn. I want IPS picture quality with 1.078 billion colour support but I want TN performance with 144hz refresh rates, though I know I only need 16.7 million colour support to be fully compatible with sRGB colour space (enough for my 'current' level of Photoshop skills). My birthday is in May, I think I will leave it till then to decide.

The next issue I have to deal with is my mouse, a Logitech G5 has started playing up, everything will be working fine and then suddenly I find that I can't move my mouse pointer, so it's time for a new mouse, I'm thinking about a R.A.T. 9 but not entirely certain that this is the best mouse for me, and I do at least have a backup mouse so I might just swap over to that and not bother buying one just yet. Eventually though, I think I will have to move over to a good wireless mouse, I've had enough of trying to make space for the cable movement.

Other than those niggles, I do really like my setup, the PC itself is awesome and Windows 8.1 are great, but I do find I can't always do what I want to do through the MUI, but I do prefer the MUI for launching applications, I tend to use Steam, Origin or Ubi Play for launching games.

One can never be fully happy with technology - there will always be something else that you want. I just got an i5 and 760, but now I want a new case, SSD, motherboard and cpu cooler. And a keyboard.

Just got a macbook pro with retina, but now I want an iMac and a Macbook air.

Just got a pair of B&W P5 but now I want some M100 and Momentums.

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

Perhaps if I only have one PC to worry about then I would want to mess with it more. But...

The wide and kids have PCs that need maintaining
I need to be able to depend on the machine working so I can work from home.

So simply it needs to be (1) working (2) reasonably up to the job.

Agreed, I don't think I will ever be completely happy with mine. I don't keep the case off of it but I doubt I will ever consider my rig to be completely finished.

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

Its possible to be perfectly happy, its just accepting you won't be happy with it forever.

In may case I know it won't do everything I want to a standard I am happy with forever, but right now its doing just that.

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

When my graphics card failed a couple of months ago, I wasn't happy, but then I remembered the magic word, Upgrade. Let's face it, the more we look at all the new goodies, the more we desire them. There is such a thing as tech addiction. It's a balance between desire, and how much we are willing to spend. If I've got the cash, I want more. So even though I've just got the MSIGTX570 back reconditioned, I couldn't resist an EVGAGTX780Dual Bios(they're practically giving them away). Now my i72700k CPU is starting to feel old, say the magic word!!!!!

The 2700k should start feeling old - you could get 4.5 GHz on air with that no problem!

Re: Who Is Finally HAPPY with their System?

It's always work in progress, every few months I get the itch or bug to add something extra, the worst one is when you upgrade or build a new machine for a friend or family member and they choose a nice case or graphics card, or someone you work with boasting about their new 3Dmark score

Its certainly more difficult to resist the urge when working in the industry that's for sure
