Angry Need Motherboard , CPU Cooler, Win7 Pro

Trying to build a new PC and I am disappointed with the price of stuff these days and how much features have been removed! Need help in finding some decent parts.

Motherboards - Most are just 2 X DIMM slot ones! 7.1 Audio jacks are missing! Hardly any ASUS boards about! Can't see much Socket 1155 boards - will the new 1150 boards take i7 3770 ? Makes me feel like buying an old P67!

CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooling's range is just loud and the mounting mechanism has been ruined! Most coolers are well noisy!

Windows 7 Pro - £100 for Windows 7 still ??? Whats going on ? More expensive than Windows 8 ???

Well the best cpu cooler would be a coolermaster hyper evo 212 for only about £25-30.
Most ATX motherboards use 4 slot,
    You're probably looking at matx.
    And the for the socket,
The 1150 sockets are for 4th generation haswell,
Your gonna need a 3rd gen ivy bridge board for your i7 because it's 1155,
Look at various stores for windows,

    Btw lol,
    P67^^

Asus P8Z77-V LX, Asus Z77-A, Asus P8Z77-V LE, Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe, Asus P8Z77-V PRO, Asus Maximus V Formula/Assassins C3, Asus Maximus V Formula, Asus P8Z77-V PREMIUM, Asus P8Z77 WS, Asus Maximus V Extreme. All ASUS Socket 1155 motherboards listed by PC Part picker. Only one MoBo with only 2 memory slots (ITX Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe). Socket 1150 motherboards are not compatible with Ivy Bridge processors, sorry. You will NEED a 1155 definitely (prefer 3rd generation before second, even if some second may work with some Ivy Bridge CPUs).

Depends on your budget, but judging by your unlocked i7 would be a shame not to overclock it, what would require advanced cooling (past beyond Intel stock cooler and entry level Arctic Cooling coolers). Either 120mm AiO coolers or mid range air-coolers I would suggest. Depends what level of overclock you will go for. If not overclock or very moderate, you may want to look into Nofan CR-80EH Copper IcePipe 80W Fanless CPU Cooler for £35.76 what should make you curse your HDDs or PSU I know I do cause I love my passive cooler. But will depend on your case cooling.

You can always go for Windows 8/8.1 and read the following > How to Make Windows 8 or 8.1 Look and Feel Like Windows 7 or Top Ten: Making Windows 8.1 Work Like Windows 7.

ASUS P8Z77-V Pro definitely works with the i7-3770, as thats what I use, albeit a 3770K, with an Arctic Cooling i30, quiet but VERY big.

I think an Xigmatek Thor's Hammer tops that (that's what I have and OilShake) and still can go bigger - NoFan coolers :-D

Wonder how close it comes to a XFX 450W PSU in idle and passive CPU cooling (I have several case FANs but at 500RPM I can't hear them in a near perfectly silent living room at 1m distance) in terms of noise. Give PSU FAN regulation

My case fans when I wrote that (I rebuilt last week) were soft-mounted Silent Eagles @ 600RPM. I had to open up the case and basically stick my ear inside to hear the Tranquillo.

I'd always look around first for a Windows 7 product key, bought mine a couple years back from ebid (3 codes 1 use each) for £25. Went halves with a friend and all was good, even see a couple on Gumtree locally for about £20 sealed.

Pufh, try this http://quietpc.co.uk/nof-icepipe it's the only fanless cooler I know of and it's BIG

Dunno what weird alternate reality you're living in where the Evo 212 is quiet...
Noise is less to do with the cooler as it is to do with the fan.
The EU version of the evo212 is far quieter than the US version with the fan at full speed because of lower rpm fans.
But both can be kept very quiet at idle if you set the PWM setting of the fan up correctly, in fact you can get it slightly quieter than the Gelid Tranquillo if it's set up correctly.
the gelid tranquillo fan is 750 - 1500rpm the evo 212 EU fan is 600-1600rpm
The older 212 Plus (which I have) was 800-2000rpm and very loud at full speed (the US evo 212 still uses that fan) which is why I swapped it for an Akasa Apache and later added a 2nd, not to increase the cooling but to help keep the rpm, and thus noise, down through PWM.
I had to set up a custom PWM profile on my motherboard, via the Asus AI Suite, as it's preset settings had the fans at far higher speeds. 40% power (which is about 55% of full rpm) until 40c if I remember correctly for the "silent" setting
Off the top of my head, I have mine around 20% power until 35c then rising slowly rising until 60% power at 55c and steeply rising until 100% power at 70c
But I don't think I've ever hit 70c even under stress testing.
