    Unhappy Please Help!!!!!

    Hi
I've recently built (or tried to) a new system as follows

    MSI Neo 2 Platinum 915P DDR2
    P4 3.4
    ATI Radeon X700 Pro
    512MB (2x256) Corsair XMS2 PC5400
    120GB WD Caviar SATA 150
    NEC 3500 DVD/RW

I originally ordered PC2 4200 memory but was sent the wrong modules. However, I have been assured by technical support that this memory will work at 533Mhz even though the motherboard only supports PC2 4200 and PC2 3200. The bios seems to load up ok, the hardware monitor registers the processor and ram and various other devices. However there seems to be a slight corruption in the output in that there are feint blue broken lines running vertically down the screen. When I come out of the bios the corruption seems to be greater in that the screen is slightly scrambled. I can get the windows setup program to run but once again the output is scrambled. Eventually the setup stops with a number of blue screen errors (something about the registry, although its too scrambled to make out). Could anyone please give me any idea as to what the problem might be? any ideas would be greatfully received because at the momemt i'm tearing my hair out!!!

Try clearing the bios, take out the battery for a few mins (while pins are shorted).

Graphics card seems most likely. Could also check for latest drivers (new graphic board drivers are regularly issued). Also make sure screen refresh rate matches monitor capability. Other possibilities include PSU, memory, interference (try re-routing cables). All very much 'suck-it-and-see', I'm afraid.
