I really don't like Epsons - I just generally find them annoying and not very good. Can't really comment on other brands such as HP, but all the other well known brands have been fine for me. I personally prefer Canon, never had any problems and always easy to use.

12 quid over, but it looks like a good printer.
Ebuyer have some in your range, but are out of stock at the moment.

    How about http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=73084 ?

Just looked at Ebuyer, can't believe there are still 9-pin Dot Matrix printers (remember them?) being sold at £300+! I know they're for businesses that need impact printing for carbon copies, but surely just printing out four copies of something with a laser/inkjet would be quicker and cheaper.

Well, there you go, two separate recommendations, what more can you want? There's also the 1500 which is about £20 less, but not in stock at the moment.

Not always possible sometime you have to print onto other peoples roller fed preprinted paper.

I realise that, but the prices! I'm sure they weren't that much over ten years ago just before bubble/inkjets took off.

If they're high capacity DM printers, LOTS of companies use them (mine included) for cheque runs, financial outputs, all that sort of thing. Most of the time they're actually a LOT cheaper to run than a laser, and if you're doing a run of year-end financials for a large organization you don't want that on A4. We have three old Mannesmann Tallys and they're (I kid you not) CRUCIAL to our Accounts Dept. Hence the maintenance contract we have on them.

I don't find Epson a problem. I've had Lexmark (yes, yes, i know) and HP and they've been extremely expensive to run. I would suggest not touching the cheap Epson like C46 and maybe going with a C66 which are about £69 and are good quality and cheap inks (genuine as well. I sell them for only £7.99 a colour..... £19.99 for black, heh)

    My thoughts however, lol

What about a black and white laser ? Just brought a Samsung ML-1510 lately, such a lovely printer , even with toner save on.
