My First PC (Built by me)

Hello, well it isn't completely built by me but I am buying a 3200+ 64 Bit 939 Socket CPU along with an Asus A8V deluxe with the wireless card. I have a 6800GT and all the other stuff I may need.

Now all I need is a case, the whole reason of me getting a new machine is for the silence, my SN45G shuttle is stuipdly noisy and is the reason I want to change my machine. I will not be overclocking or doing any of that sort of stuff so I don't mind about cooling.

Would it be possible for you to recommend a very quiet Case, I've been reading about the Antec Sonata on here but have heard mixed things about it. I would basically like a plain black case with NO windows which is quiet without any of that modding sort of stuff. I don't really want to be playing around with changing fans and such like, I basically want to stick the motherboard and all the other stuff in and away it goes, as silent as can be. Anyway, here are my current specs with some noisy components (listed as !)

    3200XP (Soon to be a 3200+ 64 Bit Skt 939)
Shuttle SN45G (Bloody noisy) (!!!!!!!) (Soon to be Asus A8V deluxe with the wireless card Socket 939)
    MSI NX6800GT 256mb (!!!!!!)
    250GB Maxline II 7200RPM 8mb Cache (!!!!)
    Audigy 2
1GB Dual Channel Twinmos PC3200 RAM
DVD-RW Philips (A bloody noisy Dell one) (!!!!!!!)
    MX700 Mouse
    5.1 Creative P580 Speakers
    LG1710B 17" TFT

Anyway thats all there is, so basically I want a case which without modding is very quiet and which dampens components which are already in it, any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, Alex

how much did you get the mobo and cpu for ? noticed you posted in the 'wanted' section. oh, and what cooling do you use for the 3200+, assuming you're after a quiet one...

Thermaltake Tsunami has good reviews. I'm considering one myself. There are 4 models: Silver with and without a window and black, with and without a window. 2 x 120mm fans on windowless models, 2 x 120mm + 1 x 80mm side fan on windowed models. Selling for £70-£80 if you can find one in stock.

Shiato Storm - I have bought one off an American person on this forum who is going to ship it to the UK (Once my Paypal funds have turned up in my account and have paid)
The 3200+ 939 is a full retail so has a stock fan with it. I picked the pair up for £175 inclusive of shipping, they all come with warranties and full retail boxes. The deal is 95% certain but I am still awaiting a response for the final thing.

Taz - I have seen the Tsunami Black non windowed one and was VERY tempted by the looks alone, I have read the reviews and they all seem to be good but I heard nothing about silencer in them so I expected it to be loud? Has anyone got one who can tell if they are loud? I was interested in the Antec Sonata due to it being designed for quietness but that Tsunami soooo attractive I may get it, it all depends on sound...

I have a Tsunami - the black one with window. The side fan is quite loud (i have unplugged mine until I can get a quieter one or 7v it), but the non-windowed one doesn't have a side fan so you'll be alright. The 120mm fans aren't silent; but they aren't intrusively loud either.

I have to say, I'm well impressed with the case altogether - effective cooling and it looks dead sexy

Dont forget - if you find your new case is to loud you can always A) Get a fan controller B)replace the fans with quieter ones C)Run the fans off 7v or even 5v - quite a simple mod to do.

Yes it is, but I like the looks better, and the cooling is far superior!
