    Cooling for an x800...

this has proberly been asked before, but whats the best air cooling solution for this card (see sig) it gets a lil hot (as high as 60c and then some ) are those artic coolers a good way to go ??

also is it worth getting some, say artic silver 5 compound stuff to go with it?
im not too sure about this as ive never changed a cooler on a gfx card before

    cheers people

I have a Arctic cooler vga silencer rev 4 on my x800 pro.I would definatley recomend you one of these coolers.Great cooler and its quiet as well. The downer is the size of it.It has a big backplate that covers the back of your card and this is also used as a ram cooler.I had some big ramsinks to put on but they arent needed. You also get a tube of heat compound with it.I already had arctic silver 3 so I used that.It could make a few degrees difference using as5.My cards sitting at 33c idle and it never gets above 65c when I'm playing a game. You can control fan speed in atitool if you're cards getting a little to hot.I have it set to try and keep the gpu at 50c.The fan is at 23% and my temp is 33c idle.
You get a set of easy to understand instructions in the box as well.
If you want to overclock your card and are worried about heat,I'd recommend you buy one m8. BUT do remember that removing your cooler will invalidate your cards warranty,so take care...

Does it get to 60c idle or when your gaming. If it's idle I'd be a bit worried but if it's when your gaming it's nothing to worry about.

hmm, idle can be 30 odd but normally around 43, its only after gaming it gets that high admittedly, im was just sure the screen would flicker every now n then, with black lines appearing every so often, but its so quick im not entirely sure myself lol
