Which power supply to SATA hard drive connector do I need for Seasonic mobo?

Hi all, I'm a longtime Scan customer who doesn't tinker much with my machine. I want to add another SSD for photo editing, but I'm out of SATA power connectors and the bits and bobs in my box of connectors don't seem to work because they're all SATA to 4 pin, whatever that is...

The power supply is "Seasonic M12ii EVO 850w" and it has six-pin connectors for "Peripheral - IDE/SATA", see pic below:

Apologies for the dumb questions, but which type of lead do I need to plug into the power supply and power a further 3 or 4 SATA drives (eg SSD, hard drive, CD rom etc). I don't want to get it wrong and plug in the wrong voltage, and a google search revealed most people use a 4 pin connector but it's not clear to me where I would plug that. Thanks in advance.

You should have the required leads with the PSU. Generally the modular plugs are keyed so you can only connect to the correct output. If you need an additional connector you might be able to get one from Scan. Other wise you could use the PSU to molex 4 pin connector and then use a molex to data converter. Bit messy but it will do the job.

I did have a look at the user manual - it isn’t very helpful!

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't appear to have the originally supplied cables. I already have 4 drives running off the existing SATA power line so I'm worried that splitting that further might not be so good?

Otherwise, do you think the PSU output with its six regular looking plugs is a common fitting? Thanks

They look to be a standard type - but it is probably worth contacting Scan or Seasonic to see if you can get a replacement cable. Although plugs may be similar on different makes, the pin connections at the PSU end may be different or the keyways way be different.

Yes your best bet is to contact scan or seasonic depending on the age of the unit, you can buy replacement modular cables, however the wrong pin layout on the cable could kill anything plugged into it.
I'm not sure there is a standard on the PSU pin layout on the PSU end of modular psu's.
