Question Is it worth overclocking a...

Is it worth overclocking a 1GHz Athlon. I am about to go down the wtercooling route. My mobo is MOBO LINK I would like to cheat using EasyTune, does anyone know where I can get an old version (the latest version doesn't support it). Would it be possible to get up to 1.2GHz and would I notice a performance difference?

    Thanks

You would almost definetly get up to 1.2ghz probably futher with water, whether you'd notice a performance difference I couldn't say.

On air when playing stuff like America's Army and Wolfenstein ET it goes up to about 42oC. I've got fed up with the noise of fans! How high could I safely get it on a) water & b) air.

    Thanks

I thinking of the 'water cooling system link' I've been asking about it in the forums, like by alot. Good price to. My problem is I don't have a bulk sum at any time so gradual upgrades are my only way forward. Particularly as my ram is SDRAM so it isn't a case of just getting new mobo and CPU and building from there. wuld only settle for the best (expensive) Then even if i did have the right ram id want faster RAM, a good G-card and ×2 raid arrays in RAID 1. No use if not in a good case (show of the case with window + lights e.t.c.). Then a 17" TFT would be nice. All gets rather expensive!

this is normal for me tbh, and its not a bad temp. If the fans are annoying you get quieter ones, for 80-120mm fans i reccomend Akasa Amber fans, i have 2 in my case, i cant even hear them from where i am.

You're missing the point somewhat. For the same price as a water cooling kit you could buy a set up, miles better than your current system, no matter how far you managed to OC it.

1Ghz Thunderbird chips were the best clockers of the lot.
If you have an AXIA stepping chip you should be able to easily hit 1.5 Ghz on air.
