Complete waste of time and money.
Complete waste of time and money.
in your opinion - HD's do need some cooling , although the above stack is possibly a little OTT , it shows what can be done
dorky are they mounted with a gap between each drive ?

Infact it's everyone opinion who knows anything about water. HDD'as do not need water cooling, neither does the chipset. waste of money, and adds more restriction to loop.Originally Posted by Moby-Dick

can you overclock a HD?
its about respecting what other people have done , even if in your view it is not nessesary.
I personally think that watercooling is a bit OTT , but if that the way people choose to go , then fair play.
dont rubbish things just because you dont like them. I've warned you before. I won't warn you again. respect other peoples views or dont post. its your choice.

hi there,
I've talked more on details and reasons "why I went" for hard drive watercooling in this forum located here:

thanx
Well in that case, you should respect my view and opinions as well then. I dob't have to suck up because someone has done something, i think HD cooling is a waste and i said so, the topic title says necessity of HDD cooling.Originally Posted by Moby-Dick
no, the drives are packed together tightly in my computer case. since they are water cooled, there is no need for air flow over the drives.Originally Posted by Moby-Dick
This means I can wrap the drives in sound-proof insulation to help reduce noise levels even further. only thing I need to do is allow air to reach each hard drive's breather port, apart from that, I can completely enclose the hard drives for very low noise levels and prevent the drives from overheating.
I wrote up a complete step-by-step on "how to" do it here:

At first I thought it was a little crazy to do it too, but the results have been very good. I cannot see myself going back to air cooling hard drives again...
