How's the Audiomax compared to a creative SA 2zs?

Its abysmal. Im mean really, REALLY bad.
Everything sound muffeled on mine, no matter what i changed, i just couldnt get it to sound right.
I picked up a aud 2 zs for ~£40 to replace it. Still gutted about soundstorm though, i can tell the difference (mainly in ut2004)

Does the active armor and faster SATA really make a huge difference?

Only if you were going to run 4 Raptors in RAID 0 otherwise 1.5Gbs shouldn't be a problem.

Expensive ?, its just a standard realtek jobbie, nothing special.

It's included with the mobo isn't it & the mobo isn't cheap.

No cheap nforce4 boards - the standard AN8 (doesn't include Audiomax afaik) is 1 of the cheaper ones.

edit: looks like I am wrong & Audiomax is included in the standard AN8

newsflash apparently as well as the Fatality AN8 SLli there is also to be another AN8 version board - AN8 Ultra .
