Which P4 3.2Ghz cooler to go for?

I have had my PC for just over 8 months now and I am currently running United Devices 24/7 so my CPU is at a constant 50% load. Using asus probe it says my CPU ranges from 49-51 degress. Is this very warm? I only have a stock intel cooler at the moment but was thinking of getting one of these if it would make a huge difference

    Asus Star Ice

According to Custom PC the Asus Star Ice didnt do a great job on LGA775 - on the highest fan setting it did cool it by an extra 8 degrees celsius over stock but it is VERY loud. On the quietest setting it was 2 degrees warmer than stock cooling.

Custom Pc found that for the LGA775 Pentium 4s the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 was the best buy (cheapish, quietish and good at cooling - 12 degrees over stock)

BTW your temps sound fine to me for a P4 (is it a prescott?)

yeah I think it is a prescott. It is the p4. 3.2c chip.

Will look into the LGA775. Can't believe I missed that in Custom PC as I subscribe

Actually its at 100% load but windows thinks its at 50% due to Hyperthreading. If 'both' processors are working at 50% load then this is added to make 100% load as it is only one processor really.

I do however get a bit confused when some programs take CPU usage all the way up to 100% on 'both' processors. odd.

As for the temperatures they look fine to me, the prescott does run mightily hot!! If you do want to get a quieter heatsink/fan that might perform better have a look here: http://www.quietpc.com/uk/p4cooling.php
