Tip - Use your USB devices in far away places.

I found this at the enquirer.

It's a fantastic article about how to connect USB devices greater than 5m away from your PC, specifically USB webcam for security. i.e. You need a usb repeater.

Lots of people have spare usb slots and a home security system (see whose ringing the doorbell at 3am) based on usb cameras sounds like a useful way to use one of 'em up.

I am going to put a wireless mouse (usb dongle type) in my living room connected via usb to my PC in another room (and PC to TV and Hifi), so I can surf and listen to tunes without the need for a pc in the same room so may have to use this.

Mods - not sure where this post should belong hence posted in hardware/technical section.

    Also called active cables.

Use them at work with our security webcams.

Repeater cables you can pick up on eBay for 7-8quid. A half decent webcam can be gotten for about 20quid, doesn't need to be anything posh.
