I was speaking with a few people today about when it will actually be that you can just go out and buy a gpu, seems like so long away but I'm genuinely wondering when it will be. What ideas do you have? Thanks

The current consensus is 4 months minimum, and the prices will be a lot higher than rrp suggested last year.
Mate honestly it's going to get worse. Not long term, but definitely the immediate short term. I would guess at maybe 3-4 months. Dont quote me on that.
I think the issues of supplying is hitting many things, increased demand with coronavirus hitting supply chains has really caused alot of issues in many areas not just graphics cards. Its bloody annoying but hold on and don't buy into the scalpers, let them keep their massively pumped cards.
April is basically the time I've seen (end of q1 2021)

I guess it doesnt help that AMD is focusing its 7nm SOCs to consoles. So probably why such a low amount of reference, aib model GPUs and tbh even consoles. Havent seen ps5s on for sale for a while or is that just me?
Not any time soon. At a guess maybe 3-4 months? Probably well into summer before you can just go out and buy a card easily. Just an educated guess, in reality though no-one really knows. We can only hope lol.
I think good idea is to preorder RTX 3000 series laptop
Lot of sources saying H2 but supply will still be constrained so prices are probably going to remain high. The market going back to normal with sensible prices, who knows, maybe next year?
I'm out, I'm not going to look into this again until the summer - my 1660 Ti will do quite nicely for now. In the meantime, I've been getting back into my Lego - infinitely more fun than hitting F5 several times a day
It depends what country you're talking about I guess in particular. We recently had a restock of the FE models via Scan in the UK and third party after market cards seem to have be weekly but in small numbers and certainly not close to RRP!
NVIDIA themselves have said that they expect supply shortages throughout Q1 2021, so Q2 you might see an increase but even then it's not going to suddenly increase on day 1. I'm expecting 4+ months at least.
For AMD I have no idea, it was rumoured that they will partner with Samsung to increase production capacity by 50%. But with the low stock at the moment, 50% increase from nothing is still nothing .
Maybe April for cards regularly in stock, but much longer wait for sensible prices.
the perfect time for my PSU to break and take the 750ti along with it. unsure what happened with PSU, wasn't in the room when computer went off, no burning smells nothing powers on.
GPU might have caused PSU to go, been getting weird errors since november ish, initially thought it was nvidia drivers doing it, because a rollback to earlier drivers stopped all the problems. now its getting pink 'n green artifacts on boot up on the screen prior to the BIOS, then just shuts off entire computer after another few minutes. even if the artifacts clear up. tried it on 3 different PSUs. same on all 3.
back to using a slightly older AMD 7700 now on a 10 year old PSU, with a whopping 1gb vram.
wonder if anything will be in the less than £200 range, preferably below £150?
