    Audio Problems On A8N

    After putting in a pair of 300GB SATA drives, and a re-installation, my sounds messing me about.

    I installed the chipset/audio drivers without speakers connected, and consulted the manual as to where each connector goes. Upon trying to listen to music...

    Left = fine
    Right = fine
    Centre = Nothing
    Subwoofer = Not as loud as it should be
    Left rear = Fine
    Right Rear = Fine

    So, i played with every sound option availible, checked 5.1 was enabled everywhere, in the nVidia Mixer, Windows Sound option WinAmp, made sure all hardware acceleration is on best/full, everything.

    Next, i thought if it isnt that, it must be drivers. Updated the audio drivers with speakers connected. All this did was make the centre become the subwoofer. So i searched through the nVidia Mixer for the "Swap Centre/Sub" which i couldn't find (If its there, please tell me where i can find it.)

    Next, i thought it may be the connections. Tried every possible way, and it just made matters worse. It worked fine with the drivers beforehand, and these are the exact same drivers!

    Please shed some light on this matter,i love a punchy sub, and atm i dont have one

    Thanks in advance.

    The latest NVIDIA drivers have trouble with SPDIF output so they may well be flakey elsewhere too..

    Do a safe drivercleaner, and then as BUFF suggests, give the Realteks a try..

    Not checked back here, but yeah i cleared the sound drivers, tried the Realtek drivers, they worked, then put NV Mixer back on, and all is fine.

    Thanks.
