maybe its the motherboard - could be a dodgy build by the sounds of it ( thats based on what i have read ) i had a similar problem and i was advised to check all the connectors blah blah blah ... and it was basically the motherboard, somthing was touching the case when it booted it caused the mosfets (which are transistors on the motherboard) to short out and blow. Who/Where did you buy it from?
It may not be that but its starting to look that way

The green light was up ... put in an old PCI gfx card, still wouldn't work ... tried yet another monitor, no luck.
Sent it back, chapter closed, thanks a lot for your advice, it was really appreciated.
