Sounds like that came from the heart, thanks for your opinion nice to hear both sides of the story.

That Sony has them new naff 6200 cards that share RAM for memory, I think, or something like that. They arent aimed at gamers really anyway Thanks for the input though mate. Where abouts in Hertfordshire are you from?

Guys im scared, I've fallen in love with the Dell XPS Gen 2, its so much cheaper than the Alienware or Rock(direct) laptops I was looking at originall for the same performance, and it has cool changing LEDs

Thinking about it though, if I was going to get the XPS Gen 2, it comes with only Intel Pentium processors. Windows XP 64bit edition is already out, and the Pentiums are still 32bit, what kind of performance increases can I expect if I was going to get a 64bit processor rather than 32bit one? Surely wouldnt Windows just perform faster? Wouldnt games have to be written/patched to make use of the 64bit architecture?

Thanks for your most useful advice guys!

I don't think you will find that sort of part anywhere but the obvious which you have mentioned.

It will no doubt be rediculously priced as well. Might be worth looking for a replacement laptop instead It's a shame if you do have to scrap it though as they really are lovely notebooks.

    Welcome to the forums Cathy

May I suggest you try places such as Laptop Repair, Laptop Repair Service, Laptop-Clinic, +/or Laptop Support.

If they aren't able to supply a replacement motherboard themselves... they may be able to tell you where it might be best to try?
If it is ridiculously priced (i.e. into 3 figures)... then you would indeed be as well looking to get a new laptop!
