At least you know why the Soundstorm part of the driver doesn't take though. It is easy to get caught out in these days of heavy marketing, most of the time it's what's not said or the particular way in which things are phrased. Always check with as many people as possible first and ideally check a review, always rem though they often only deal with the 'Deluxe' type stuff. Perf and sound aren't actually at all bad without MCP-T/Soundstorm, you're just no better than any other modern onboard sound solution ... at least you have a top notch mobo in all other respects ...

Not all boards with MCP-T are certified by nVidia as SoundStorm.
They've just certified some more boards so the list now is:
    Abit NF7-S
    ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
    DFI NFII Ultra-AL
    Gigabyte GA-7NNXPV
    MSI K7N2G-ILSR
    Shuttle SN41G2 v2
    Shuttle SN45G

I'm pretty sure it's possible to get the MCP-T but still lack the Soundstorm tag. IIRC for the Soundstorm tag you need more than just the lovelly nVidia audio because you need SPDIF etc ... some users don't need or want the full works but it was a repsonse to so many people finding their nForce1 lacked any nVidia audio as implimentation was often hit and miss and very unclear.
