sorry you need a new copy of XP I reckon

Zak is indeed correct, most system builders now do this to stop piracy, Dell, Advent, all them guys.

You know when you right click on my computer it comes up the manufacurers logo ? Well, they embedd some info in the mobo and on the OEM Windows Disks theres a verification check and if they dont match, they dont work, but it depends on the company.

I know Dell doesn't work, and a couple of other big companies, cos I've tried my OEM Dell disk on my normal mobo when I upgraded.

Never buying a Dell then... that is a bit too much. I'm all for copyrights and all that, but if I buy a computer with Win XP, I expect to be able to use my legal copy of XP on which PC I like.

It's not fair that copyright abusers can use their illegal copies on whichever system they use!

I'll try installing it and if they dont let my OEM work then i'll have to take extra measures to make it work
