    i dissconected the hdd and it trys to load the xp cd! I put the cable back and the smae problem as before! This means the Hdd messed? I have put the SATA power in and the actual connector but next to it there are some pins and a socket, what are they for? Also, when the it was working it said the hdd was connected 133 or something. Souldnt it be 150?

    It probably just needs a format due to corruption, but the XP CD likes to be all clever and try and try to boot from it if it's midway through install. Maybe try some other bootable disk tool (ultimate boot CD) to wipe it and try again.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I believe I recommended the ASUS and the MSI (in that order).

    You hardcore overclockers never cease to amaze me.

    Ever consider seeking help from someone in your area that has put a high performance A64 together before? Just a thought.

    Update the BIOS. Chances are the one included does not have full support for SD chips.

    Nope, UBCD4WIN is a windows based util.

    The instructions on their website are pretty good. I know it probably goes against everything that most people on here believe, but have a read of the instructions :-)

    Theres nothing wrong with the DFI boards at all. I prefer mine to my old Asus A8N SLI, and it overclocks better.

    They overclock better but only if they are not vmodded. They are not very reliable compaired to the ASUS and MSI boards I've used. Even Gigabyte (nicknamed Giga****e) is more reliable.

    I've built systems with DFI boards, and as long as you are willing to mess with them you can usually get them to work. I have had a higher return rate on DFI boards than any other board (even ABit) so I no longer recommend them.

    At work, we only use Asus motherboards, because they're the ones that have given us the least hassle. The drivers install without any hassle, and we've hardly had any asus boards go faulty (except a couple that were damaged due to human clumsiness). We haven't got time to be messing around with drivers and BIOS settings, it needs to work out of the box.

    Personally, I wouldn't touch anything else. If it ain't broke - don't fix it!

    Mine took a bit of tweaking to get working, but is running fine now, dual booting winxp (32 bit) and a linux (64 bit) though I am thinking of trying winxp 64 bit with that free trial thing - I generally reinstall the OS every 6 months anyway

    Ok, i changed the boot sequence so i could boot from the ultimate boot cd thing. All the apps find my HDD fine, but it still can not verify the AMI thing. What do i run to fix this? the list of stuff on the cd is here
