    Question New Rig tbh

Ok, tis definatly time to upgrade (check my sig LOL!) Basically im torn between a SN25p shuttle and a regular tower. I jsut like the neatness of the shutlles but they could mean i get less for my budget.

So what im asking is if between you u could price put a Shuttle rig and a Tower rig, both for 900.

    Thanks lads you

Coolermaster Cavalier 1 - Silver (No PSU) (

Enermax Noisetaker 600W EG701AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX2.0 SLI Compliant PSU

This is what im thinking... for the tower option

PS: Happy to overclock but only beginners;/ intermediate stuff

There isn't much in it price wise and quite often a SFF is cheaper depending on what case, PSU, heatsink & fans you go for in a desktop PC. Go desktop if you want to overclock some and if you enjoy choosing every component. Go SFF if you want semi-portable and a convenient build.

IMO you have a nicer system with a joe average overclocked desktop.

Are you talking just a base unit for £900 or the whole mashings ie monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc

The Shuttle will cost more (you pay a premium for portability) and will not overclock as well. I have both SFF PCs and towers and the bigger systems are much more powerful. One of the reasons is the limitations of SFF PSUs. Another is the lack of overclocking features in microATX motherboards.

If you can live with the size, a full-sized system will give much more bang for your buck.

One of my systems is almost exactly what you spec'd out. Use the 1.3 BIOS. It overclocks the best. I run my 3700+ 2830MHz 24/7 on air. Couldn't do that on any of the other BIOS's though.

Also, the X2's run fine on the Neo4 but the BIOS is an issue right now because they really don't have a release BIOS that fully supports the X2. I'm sure they will though. I'm running 1.6B1 Beta and it works but still doesn't overclock as well as 1.3.

Exactly. All of the BIOS's I referred to are for the Neo4 Platinum.

You need a really good 3000+ to keep up with a 3700+ San Diego, and even if you match the MHz the San Diego will be much stronger because it has twice the cache. In many applications that's good as 200MHz. You're not running a 3000+ at 3GHz+ on air. Also, you are not likely to be able to overclock the 3000+ as high as the 3700+. Keep in mind that the 2830MHz is my 24/7 setting, not my max overclock.

If you want your computer to last longer that's a good idea.
