Me want Ultrabook
LOL, i have changed it again, to a 4400, but i dunno what board and memory, but the 7800 and 4400 is a definate.
Storm id appreciate your help, on the mobo and ram. id like 2gb, it should be great shouldn't it, can always run it on a divider?
If you are running an X2 the Asus A8N-E Deluxe is really amazing. I can't say enough about this board. In the two weeks I've been testing it the thing has just been flawless. I have never tested a better board. It could use some additional BIOS options for memory timings and perhaps a bit higher voltages, but it goes 3.0 volts on the DDR and 1.6 volts on the core (X2's default to 1.3, so that's a pretty decent percentage increase).
If your not going for the highest benches possible (you shouldn't run 2GB if you are) just about anything will work fine. Obviously the better RAM you buy the faster it will run. Get a 2GB kit though, don't run 4 DIMMs. The fastest 2GB pair I've tested is the OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K, but it's pricey. Just depends on how fast you want to run your RAM. On A64's you don't really need to run the RAM fast for great performance, but some applications really like it.
For the ram, yep don't care about benchies at all, want 2gb for games, BF2 im gonna get, and for future games.
Is the normal Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra the same board as the Deluxe? BIOS and that wise, as i don't need SLI.
Ive heard the Abit An8 is good as well?
Yes...it's not actually the Deluxe. A8N-E is the board. Deluxe has another RAID controller but that's not the one I have. It's the one in the link you sent.
I've heard good stuff about the Abit but haven't tested it myself. Can't imagine it being better than the A8N-E, but if it is it's an amazing board.
hi there all, i,m sure these guys will help you with your problem, i just recently aquired a 3500 venice core, which has overclocked nicely to 2700 mhz on air as this is cheaper than the 3800,s i,d say its worth thinking about, as i was pleasantly surprised, off the top of my head i think that its now running at fx-55 stock speeds, Thats running on an abit uguru av8 mobo with a gig of corsairs xms 4400, 6800 gt,
hope u get it sorted m8..
Thanks richy, yeah as you can see iam not really on a budget, and ive decided to go for a 4400+ and enjoy it now, rather than be constantly waiting for prices to drop.
Let us know the final cost of the unit!

That ain't bad at all. You gonna just be using air on that I take it?

Ill post up how i get on with it when i get it, probly have it by next week, should be fun. not going for any records, or benchies, just a nice solid machine, for some extreme gaming.
I like it alot. When it's done can I have a go?
