    Unhappy ram or cpu?

i have an amd xp2.1 (borrowed) & an xp 1.9 (mine) 512mb ddr 400 ram (cas 3) a raddy 9800 pro & battlefield 2 looks poo! (low detail on everything @ 600x 800 res) frame rate is acceptable. what do you think will make the most difference to my system? 1gb of ram or or an upgrade to the cpu? i have an asus A7N8X2.0 mobo & a budget that can only stretch to £65 (b/day money) any suggestions? rich.

I would say CPU - 512MB RAM should be enough, however if you can hear the hard disk constantly thrashing then go for the RAM.

When you say XP 2.1, do you mean 2100XP, or 2.1ghz XP. if it's the 1st, id definatly get a new CPU. A 3000XP should fit right in, or a 2500XP-M mobile.

if it's 2.1ghz, id go with more memory.

512mb is really bare minimum for bf2.

Neither will make a huge difference, but you need more RAM for BF. That's probably your best bet.

hmm the 21000 runs at like 1.7ghz and has 256kcache.

A mobile 2500XP-M with a moderate clock would reach 2.2ghz, thats 500mhz more and more cache, you'd notice that.
