    what if i didnt buy a floppy drive , cause i didnt think i would need one... am i screwed if it doesnt recognise the 3700?

    If it boots with it but doesn't recognise it as 3700+ (comes with gibberish) you should be OK. Flash and reboot.

    what if the pc doesnt boot at all, because the bios doesnt recognise the newer core? what would he have to do?

    he would have to get another 939 CPU and boot it up to flash with that.

    just found this

    looks like san diego is supported since bios version 1007, first version was 1001, and latest is in beta - version 1012.

    I seriously doubt iot's not gonna boot the chips and board have been out for ages.

    It's X2's that need flashing usually.

    I think if it didn't recognise it it would be more like it wouldn't let you use the full features of clock it down to some sort of basic settings. I don't think it just wouldn't post at all.

    what do you mean "full featues"?

    and btw, merlin, from that link before you are getting the regular a8n-sli, non deluxe , non premium.

    This means you will need at least bios 1005 to use the san diego.
