    Xpc Sd31p

    Hi all
I am considering the purchase of the XPC SD31P. I have a P4 660 3.6Ghz HT and nothing else. This will be the first PC I build and I am mainly building it to serve as my Gamer and Home theater piece.
    Is this a Good barebone?
Can I expect it to be stable?
Is there something better out there I am missing?

I like the idea of having the 945G chip set, but should I go with a different one?

What other hardware do you recommend I purchase?
    hard drive = ?
    graphics card = ?
    Memory = I thought I would go with 1G (512 x2) PC2-4200 533Mhz Dual Channel DDR2.

Thank you all for your replies… Do you remember the first time you built a pc?

Hard drive - performsnce wise it's got to be a 76gig Western Digital Raptor
Graphics, GeForce 7800 is the newest & fastest kid on the block
As for ram, set yourself a price & shop around for the best speed vs lowest latency/tightest timings. Ram prices are on their way back up, so now's a good time to buy as there are still bargains to be had.

I was thinking the Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA II Hard Drive might be good enough so that I have plenty of space.

    Also I was going to get Kingston KVR533D2N4K2/1G 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2-533 CAS 3, 4, 5 Dual Channel Kit PC Memory RAM (240-Pin, 533MHz)

The GeForce 7800 does not sound bad at all. But it does say A minimum 400 Watt system power supply and the XPC SD31P is only 350watt.

More important at this point is do I go with the XPC SD31P by Shuttle?

Don't worry about the power supply. Shuttle Silent X PSUs are much more efficient than typical PSUs.

You'll have no problem putting a 7800GTX in an SD31P (other than it is a bit long so you'll have to not use the CPU fan duct)

Go with a spinpoint P120, it's 250gig, the quietest 3.5" drive in the world and outperforms the caviars (a series of more and more dissapointing drives ) if you've got the cash.
