zalman reserator plus1 water cooler kit

    hi guys
    first time here
lm looking at the zalman reserator for cooling and quiet
    have a amd fx53 2.4
ati x800xt pe with 256 ram
using a thermaltake xp-90c,using the quiet&cool with amd, when gaming the temps of cpu can reach 60c,other wise it stays at 36-41c
first time getting into water cooling,l know the zalman reserator is not extreme cooler,as l don't overclock.that would not much matter.would l get same temps with zalman reserator as with xp-90c,l know it should be quiet, that would make my wife happy

xp90c hitting 60c?? goodness.. and you're telling me its on stock speeds? I think you better check whether you've got the HSF installed correctly.. or your mobo BIOS temp sensors are borked...

zalman reserator can barely match a stock AMD cooler.. let alone a XP90c.. its really quiet tho... REALLY quiet... but then agian.. 60c is WAY WAY too much for an AMD on stock.. even for a 130nm sledgehammer core..

I would agree that your temps would be about the same with a reserator VS stock hsf.
Its a 'low noise' rather than 'high performance' product, at least as I understand it.

i looked into getting a zalman res plus1 WC kit, but decided by the price £185, that you can get a better kit for another £40, ie the waterchill kits which are mucho more better and includes the northbrigde unlike the zalman with only the vga and cpu blocks.

I'm using AV8 3rd eye too.. go download bios rev 24 from abit.com.tw... check to see if your temperatures still that high.. I remembered earlier rev of AV8 BIOS really had their temp calib borked out..

My venice running 2700MHz only idles 26C on the new bios... (ambient is 21C) loads are about 40C and thats period on any cpu demanding games.. 2 hours prime95 on large FTTs only reaches 42C...

    Lurker alert

any particular waterchill kit that you'd recommend?

I liked the idea of the reservator as a quiet cooler for my Media center/gaming machine.

I currently have a Zalman 7700 running as slowly as I can, and another fan on the graphics card. Had thought that water would bring it down temperature and noise.

    Cheers

Zalman Reserator is for the quiet ppl in mind. Its VERY quiet.. note.. VERY ULTRA quiet... But it is NOT a performance water cooler. At best its a little better than an AMD stock cooler...

does anybody have a view how it compares with the Thermaltake Rocket Fanless Liquid Cooling System, which seems to be 40 quid cheaper... but without a VPU block included in the price... it is an optional extra

checked the rocket and had alot more problems than the zalman, with the zalman if you don't have coolant additive with distilled water ,the pump would go,with the rocket cracks would appear in housing and overclockers cafe did a review and a cap blow off the pump and didtroyed $1800 worth of gear,so l decided to go with reserator,tt are bringing out a replacement for the rocket, looks like cd stand, put performs well
