Lightbulb Lets build a Gamer's PC

    Hi everyone,

Recently i wanted to build a PC for Gaming. So i started the old fashion way.
Search engines, manufacturers websites, reviews, previews, ratings and it doesnt end.

Allthough it doesnt end, i came across hexus and i was very amazed with the content and the level of knowledge concerning hardware not only from the administrators but the members as well. So i signed up immediately and as i was browsing looking for hints, tips and opinions to guide me into setting up the puzzle that i got in my head i thought: Wouldnt it be nice if there was a site with a Gamer's PC (specifications) build by gamers, through arguments, votes & polls so that every n00b (like me) would be sure that there are no interests or commissions involved and that the PC was built by pure gamers and gamers only?

So i thought hey, why dont we do it here in hexus?

Here's the idea: First on this thread we will discuss weather its a good idea or not and once it is, there will be threads of each categories ( CPU, VGA, Cooling, sound card, Ram, HD etc) where people will list their opinions and argue. In about 10 days, the final 3 or even 5 more prevailing items of each category will be listed in a poll where we will get to vote for the ones that we consider the most apropriate for a Gamer's pc.

So its like having a blank paper in front of us and start drawing.
Of course some parts are secondary and depend on what our primary options will be. So we will have that in mind when we will poll but thats the challenge isnt it? See if we can build a pc that will actually work
    Hope we dont burn it!!!!

    Should we go for it?
Any admins wanna take the challenge?

I think what he meant was the list at the beginning was outdated the ideas and comments in it aren't but the components suggested (cheap as chips, sweet spot etc...) haven't been updated.

I'd thought about this before but threads will get outdated very quickly as newer hardware comes out each week.

Idea is good though as a lot of posts here tend to be for speccing systems

i feel that the whole idea is flexible and we can change and measure it since this is what we ll do anyways.
So we can build 3 kinds o rigs.

    1. lower budget rig (around 500-800)
    2. the one most can affort (around 800-1200)
    3. Latest Tech monster (1200+)

That way we will be listing the 3 categories and every now and then edit the 1st post by changing (replacing) hardware with newer ones or more apropriate ones.

Glad to see you are interested nvening

The 3 tiers is a great idea, that would prevent lots of threads about "what pc should I make" sort of thing. Also giving several rig options e.g Intel, AMD, nVidia, ATi. I'd be happy to show some contribution. I've only been getting really back in to PC hardware the last few weeks so I'm still getting up to date with it all but I've got some good ideas for systems.

I think its a good idea. That other one shouldnt be used 'cause he wants to build a PC in the near future, so I thought this was a temporary thing. The older stuff in that thread is outdated.
