Soon we'd forget about the code names and end up with product names like Gratenzza or Shadrenza... and related to the number of pipes (like how they relate to a cars engine size).. Nvidia's Harrier 40TDi or Intel Grafto 16.1 GTi IGP(16 pipes and 1GHz DDR3)

Dunno about your ide cable but my head is spinning. ATi x800 product naming = worst ever.

I couldn't tell you whats better or how many pipes an ATi card has now. It's ridiculous. After being an ATi fan I think I'll defect to Nvidia on principle until ATi sort it out.

the daft thing about gfx card names is that they are ALWAYS getting more rediculous - at least on cars the majority of suffexes mean something particulalry quick..

why not go back to the good old days of productname, revision, version

such as

geforce 3 ultra
geforce 2 mx

everyone knew where we stood then!

Or why not just use a totally numerical based setup? Just increment the number slightly if it is an upgrade within the model range or if it is a "tweaked" update.
