I don't know maybe. enough people seem to buy it though so I'm unsure if its an nforce 4 thing.Originally Posted by BUFF
RAM that I can reccomend: OCZ Plat Rev 2, OCZ Gold and OCZ Gold VX, GSkillz 4400 LE and 4800 LE (I think LF is good too), Crucial Ballistix + Crucial Ballistix Tracers (2 x 1gb kits), Mushkin redline Voltage Extreme and generally BH-5 RAM. TCCD loves this board: but not (as statsed before) Corsair.
I would just like to know out of interest: whats up with the board? I haven't found much lacking on mine (SLi-D) myself. It came with a helluva lot of stuff, support is top-notch (DFI Street is ace), board OC's very well and has every feature I want on it. Wassup with yours?
When I bought the board I was totally unprepared for the ammount of time I would have to spend tweeking it. I wanted a board with good O/C options that would help me extend the useful life of my components - ocing rather than upgrading every 12 months if you get my drift!
It's took me about 4 months to get the memory settings right to prevent BSoDs on boot up (was happening about 40% of the time ), and moving from the Tagan to OCZ PSUs has made a noticible difference. (1 BSoD in 2 months, so pretty much there!)
That aside, once into Windows (even before current memory settings), it has been the most stable system I've had the pleasure to use. Even with my kit at stock speeds, I'm not dissapointed with performance.
So, what's wrong with the board? It's a bit on the pricey side. It's not a plug'n'play mobo. It can be a pain in the patella to get it running smoothly. The memory compatibility is annoying.
But then again, if you are buying components to build up a system from scratch, isn't playing around with the hardware/BIOS/etc etc etc what it's all about? I've learnt so much about computers in general since I bought this board, it's great!

I foollowed all the guides on DFI street and my PC build started first time.
Tweaking is a dream as there are so many options you can work with it and get it stable.
I researched and bought this board as I knew it was full of options and for the more advanced user who liked to overclock. Suits me (and many others)

What Tagan was it as I was thinking of this from scan?:580W Tagan 2Force T580-U22 SLi U-Quiet for £72.84moving from the Tagan to OCZ PSUs has made a noticible difference.
Over a Enermax Noisetaker Series ATX12V Ver2.01 EG701AX-VE (W)SFMA - power supply - 600 Watt which I can get for £87.53
Whereas the OCZ Powerstream 520W Power Supply, Supports ATX, BTX, EPS12V and PCI-E =£105.28.
Bit of a difference in prices!
Oh, it was a Tagan TG-U01 480W PSU. Works fine. Can't be specific as to the problem as I didn't whip out the mulimetre. System seems much better now though, measureable by the huge reduction in BSoDs on boot up.
Maybe a dodgy rail, maybe an off batch. I dunno, ain't gonna make a biggy out of it.
