IM going to sound a right Nob naw but i dont realy no that much about tight timings. On my old asus a7n8x deluxe i was running my ddr 2100 @ 172fsb 1.1 timeing 333.2.5
Respect KAIN. I''ll just reiterate what I posted in the other thread. The problem is I find synthetic tests interesting but pointless. 3Dmark can at least offer some kind of real world perf evaluation but the likes of SETI and esp PIfast are pointless IMHO. Games are what's important to most people, that's the main reason for sinking extra cash into a PC and the gains there are very small. Anyway this is all I could find from an independent source (I'd expect the diffs to be even smaller on Dual Channel setups) ...

PS. As for the Dual Matched thing, can you really see any company pairing together all kinds of different sticks and then thoroughly testing them for optimal perf / pairing? I unfortunately have to say they are far more likely to stick together 2 'identical' sticks so you should get exactly the same thing by simply buying 2 of the same sticks at the same time.
ok so out the 2
(1)1Gb kit DDR PC-3500 Dual Channel - GeIL Golden Dragon4.5ns CL2,6-3-3 1T £205 including vat and delivery
(2)1GB of TWINMOSS DDR pc3200 with twinmos chips for £126 including VAT + £10 delivery £136
which is the best to get.
I play games and do lots off stuff to do with dvds like converting XVID /DVIX and others to DVD and like i said its going to go with a ABIT NF7 V2 and a BARTON 2500 XP
Ahh well see your example is on a P4 setup, where timings are not AS important. But Macci has shown they are important numerous times. On AMD latency and timing are king
Yeah that's the problem with buying two of the same sticks, company's use varying suppliers etc. of their chips and even PCB's these can all affect what timings are available from a certain stick. But I do not know the testing methods used for DDR so I could not tell you how they are tested.
Easy for me, get the TwinMOS as the price the Geil demands is so not worth it ... who do they think they are Corsair? IIRC TwinMOS CL2.5 is actually CL2.5,6-3-3 so very close to Geil's CL2.0,6-3-3. Since you're after SktA, PC3200 is all you need, there's plenty of better things you could be spending that extra £70 on!Originally posted by Planetside

yer but £280 is a hell of a lot just for timing
For £280 you can get Corsair which is reknowned by almost everyone as the best in RAM ... still no where near worth it though. I would expect that TwinMOS PC3200 to run faster than 400mhz probably around PC3500 and it should be able to handle very fast timing too, certainly if at 400mhz. I really can't see how the TwinMOS PC3200 will fail you though. Returning is easy, you can return it under the (UK) Distance Selling (within a certain timeframe) and all it costs you is return postage (they can't charge a restocking type fee). For the price you really can't fail!
Doesn't it have to be un-opened ?Originally posted by Austin

Don't think so, as long as it's in resalable condition ... ie. as good as new. Worth checking if you want to be sure of course.
