Exclamation Which 17" monitor for £150 or less, not crt for gaming and other.

Hi, im looking for a new monitor to replace my ctx crt which is good but too bulky for my desk and therefore too close to my eyes. Im looking on this page on
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...subcat_uid=353
and wondering your opinions and views of what too buy, would prefer as cheap as possible, just dont want any majoy ghosting and want image to be crisp and sharp. I know some models have a better reputation than other but wondering which ones u would pick, thanks John.

prob is, im really strapped for case and i'd rather spend less than £150, £150 was really my max, like i was gonna spend £120 but pushed upto £150 for some quality...any more suggestions? Thanks, anyways, it's a good deal though

John, maybe it's worth waiting a bit and saving up for the 19". You are deffo getting a lot more for just £30 more...Seems like a logical thing to do, but what's important is that you'll be happy with whatever you decide on

alright, I#ll save for the 19" in that case then if its best for the future. Also what i'm a little interested in is will an xbox 360 lay through the 19" and work with totla HDTV to the max 100%? because i have heard that tft monitors will do this unlike normal tvs? is it right?

Not much point going for a 19" as they run at the same res as the 17"s (1280x1024) so there is no improvement in image quality. You could save and go for the new 4ms tfts, giving you a bit more flexibility.

The Dell monitors are good if you're looking for a cheap monitor which looks pretty good. I was also considering the 17" monitors for £119.99 at autdirect.co.uk

If you are daving for a 19" then you may want to consider the 19" TFT monitor I just saw in Aldi. It was £199.99 but had a 8ms response time and a DVI input.

im not sure though whether my system,( see sig) is upto sustaining the native resolution in games, for example would it be able in black and white 2 for example or am I going to have to upgrade to a 64 bit processor to give my system the grunt it needs?

    a 6600gt may struggle at 1280x1024 tbh.

Although if you dont mind losing a few details it should be ok, plus ive found good quality tft's are ok are scaling up, my LG doesnt look too shabby playing silent hunter 3 at its locked res of 1024x768.

would it make much of a difference if I was to upgrade to a 3200+ venice for example, also I would be really up for overclocking it as well., and I will overclock my card as well to try and squeeze some extra out of it.
