I have always found Epson a lot of absolute rubbish, the heads block up, they take ages to actually start printing, small cartridges (fair enough they are cheap with compats though).

HP has always had a bullet proof reputation with me, they feel like quality, they go on and on and on. I think HP have the heads built into the cartridge, so no expensive printer repairs. Text quality always very very impressive (epson beats it on photos though).

Canon I think, use fairly similar tech to Epson but better quality. So imo look at HP see if you like anything, if not you will be safe with a Canon but dont touch Epson.

    What about multifunction printers? Like:

    Canon PIXMA MP500

Any good? Or is it best to get a stand alone scanner? I have a scanner already but hardly use it. I was thinking of maybe getting an all in one to save space but not sure if i would be better off just getting the IP5200 printer.

Need to get some views on a good Multi-Function printer. It needs to be compact and a great printer. Any possible candidates?

Choose what you like but I would be inclined to buy the canon ip5200

I have the ip4000 and is very good. I can recommend print rite inks for low cost but high quality.

my m8 has one he got it this week and with a 9600 print on it the 7x5 shots he done was very very good, im always been used to epson stuff and although they are gr8 quality they dont last and suffer many breakdowns and faults so i may just get this cannon next week cheapest i seen it was £101, i havent yet found anyone making the cheaper carts so from wot i just read about not making chip carts cheap i assume its a refill job, but rather than banter about it and go on about other printers ill answer the chap who asked for an opinion on this printer and not hp and epson.
its looking a top a draw m8 def thinking of going from epson to cannon now.

Does anyone know where I can buy the cartridges, they are fairly new:
So far, unknown online shop shown in kelkoo.co.uk
and jessops (no stock yet with no ETA)

P.S. the printer in question Canon ip5200, cartridges number 8's and 6.
If someone can find me a shop that they've used that has the supplies of these I'll get this printer....
