PC built with Intel D845 GERG2 - flashing power LED??

    Hi all,

Got one of our workstations at work with a problem that I've not seen before (out of a batch of 50 something!).

The issue is that the green POWER indicator, which is usually solidly lit of course, is in fact flashing on/off. At a constant rate, about once every 2 seconds. The PC powers up fine, even with the light blinking, and even boots WinXP and is usable for 90% of the time but does crash occassionaly.
I can only assume that the 'flashing' is a status warning feature of the motherboard, but the BIOS offers no fault logging, and basic stats such as fan/temp/power appear normal in BIOS hardware monitor.

As the mobo is discontinued, useful support articles are hard to come by. Has anyone come across this, and can offer any pointers as to what might be causing it??

    I'd be really grateful,
    Thanks, S.
