    Urgent Help: Abit Motherboard

I have am Abit AN8 Ultra with an Opteron 146, NEC Optical drive and a WD 200gb SATA

My motherboard detects my two SATA drives in the BIOS, yet everytime I try to install windows XP it detects no hard drive, or gives me a blue error screen.

I have tried installing windows and installing the 3rd party SCSI/RAID/SATA drivers through the floppy drive, but nothing works.

I tried installing windows xp on a normal IDE drive, it lets me format it, and store the windows files, but after the reboot it goes back into cd-boot and refuses to boot from the HD to continue with the installation.

Please someone, help, im going insane.

Are you trying to install to the 2 drives as RAID or do you want them as 2 separate drives rather than an array ?

If you could post full system specs please.

Get the new drivers from Abits site - the ones that ship are useless iirc

Yup, the problem was my X-Fi Soundcard.

As soon as I removed it I could install windows. I updated the bios and the problem was fixed.

Everything seems to be running fine so far, I have my Opteron 146 clocked at 2.4ghz, I havent pushed it any further yet, but my Zalman has it cool at 35c!!

I havent put my Arctic NV5 on my 7800gt yet either, havent had the time this weekend, but I will soon, and I'm gonna overclock that baby.
