    but for 90 pounds you can get an fx-57 lol well in my case you can my opty is running at 2.8 fine with stock cooler, and its a 144 lol
    just get one then when dualo cores come down swtich plus the opties are gettn are so you could sell for same money P:

    Erm you can get a cheap Opteron 144 and overclock it to 2.8Ghz... Thus making it as fast as an AMD 64 FX-57... (But only if you are lucky!)

    Probably a little bit faster due to the faster FSB

    And yes, you do need to be very lucky. Most of the current steppings arn't doing too well.

    You can always increase the FSB on the FX as well (you just don't *need* to to overclock it)

    soz i meant u could wait till dual cores come down in pice then swap,
    anbd my opty is a recent settin ad went up to 2.8 on almost stock volts and i only droped the htt to 4x so all is well
