Normally you can jump in and supply your own drivers for the printer at one of the steps. I had to do it for the computers on my home network. (Win98 & WinXP)

Here at work we have brother & HP laser jets shared no problem, cross platform (Win98 & WinXP, etc)

my HP Deskjet 520 shared fine, my dad's 720 explicitly stated in the manual that it could not be shared - and they were right.

My canon was a doddle to share, my housemate's epson shared itself automatically & appeared on my pc's printer list automatically.

So thats one printer that you couldnt get to work out of hundreds of different HP models , and you brand the whole of HP's printer line as unusable on a network?

    Tut tut
