    Building new PC Please help

    Hay all

    Sorry about this, just want to double check before I order that all the parts are compatible. I'm going to ordering the parts tomorrow for my new PC. So I've decided on:-

    * ASUS A8N32 SLi Deluxe NF4 SLI, S939, PCI-E (x16), DDR 400, SATA II, SATA/IDE RAID, ATX ( I would Like to go SLI in the future)
    * AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 , Manchester Core, 2x 2.0GHz , 1MB Cache, Retail
    * 1GB (2X512MB) Corsair TwinX Pro LED, DDR PC3500LL (434), 184 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 2-3-2-6
    * Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra TC AC-SIL64U-TC Sempron, Athlon 64 4000+ FX-55 Opteron (hope this is good enough??)
    * 200 Gb HGST (IBM/Hitachi) 0A32012 Deskstar T7K250, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 8MB Cache, NCQ, 8.5 ms (Is this alright? cant afford the raptor...)
    * 256MB XFX 7900GT Standard, Mem 1370 MHz, GPU 470 MHz, 24 Pipes, Dual DVI-I HDTV

    Dont think I need anything else?

    Have the CD/DVD drive already and I'm going to use XP home till I can afford to get XP 64.

    Only thing now is a case and PSU. I've about £120-140 left to spend and could do with a hand?? Was going for the P180 and Enermax 600w but that would blow my budget... Getting everthing from scan as you all suggested.

    Cheers for the hand

    • amjedm's system
      • Motherboard:
      • Asus A8N-Sli Premium
      • CPU:
      • Athlon X2 4200 S939 + Scythe Ninja rev A
      • Memory:
      • 2GB Corsair DDR PC3200
      • Storage:
      • Samsung T 160GB Sata in Scythe Quiet Box
      • Graphics card(s):
      • Nvidia 6600 256MB + Cooling Mod
      • PSU:
      • Enermax Noisetaker 485 (fanless) - lower chamber P180 fan doing the PSU cooling
      • Case:
      • P180 (modded - easier cable routing, front and rear grills cut)
      • Operating System:
      • XP Pro
      • Monitor(s):
      • LG 22" WTQ?
      • Internet:
      • O2 8MB (Standard)
    Will the Enermax cables be long enough for the P180?

    Why the P180? I have both the P180 and Akasa Eclipse and think the Eclipse is much easier to work inside + removable motherboard tray.

    Akasa Eclipse 62 - £78.60 at Scan. Seasonic 500 on Today Only at £75.

    Any good?

    Edit: have a look at the power supplies on Scan's Today Only page. Tagan 530 comes in at £65.

    Sorry, I wasn't sure what case or power supply to go for. I was originally thinking of going for the P180 and enermax but I'm running out of money. Well up for the Eclipse and the Tagan 530 if you think that it will do the job.

    Cheers

    imo better with the Freezer 64 Pro than the Silencer 64 Ultra.
    if you are trying to save money then the retail HSF really isn't bad at all.

    & if I didn't ask you to look at the AN8 32X I wouldn't be the resident Abit fanboi

    What are you hoping to get out of XP 64? Last time I checked, driver availability isn't great and not a massive boost in gaming performance. I think some games showed level load times were reduced, but that's all.
