    Nec dvd_RW ND3500-AG DVD burner

    Hi

    I have a Nec dvd_RW ND3500-AG DVD burner

It doesn't play many cds now, I did try putting in discs that have worked in the drive before and not all of the discs I tried worked.

dvds work in this drive still

1.Is there a separate laser for dvds and cds?

2.can you send me the lastest drivers?

3.any other things i could try?

    Thanks in advance

You could try re-flashing the firmware:

If it's knackered, a new DVD-RW can be had for about £20-£25. I'd recommend a Samsung over the NEC - much quieter.

I also have this problem with an NEC 3520. Blank CDs work much better for me than original CDs, which are pretty much worthless. DVD reading is still 100%.

I flashed the drive with the above firmware. Thanks for the link. It didn't fix the problem reading original CD's, but it didn't make things any worse either. I can still read DVD's. The firmware went from 1.07 to 3.something.

I was using an NEC 3520 right up until this week. It's been replaced with a Samsung SH-162A. It did not have any issues with CDs or DVDs.
