    Good CPU Temp?

Hi, I noticed that my CPU (3.4ghz) was running at 42celcius on idle....is this too hot?? I have this Arctic Cooling HSF, I only bought it because it had blue LED's I was wondering if this was too hot and it was time to get a Zalman!...

    Type of CPU?

P4's run hotter than AMDs... or may be the other way round i always get mixed up.

    my 3500+ (2.2g) sits at 25-28 idle.

All depends on what it runs at on full load, If its going above 55 you should get new cooling.

idle temps arent as important as load temps.

P4s go alot higher than 55 degrees, they are designed for it.

my athlon xp 2800+ (overclocked) runs at around 40 degrees at idle and runs fine.

P4 Prescott. Otherwise known as the "toaster". Expect load temps of up to 70-80C. Anything less is good.

How about "winter warmers".. or "slow cookers"..

But yea, high 60s is pretty normal.. my 520 runs very hot, though its running on of those dell block sinks with a duct and a 60mm case fan..
    Me want Ultrabook
