Advice on ram upgrade

Hi all, I have an olddddd P4 (2.0ghz) system, northwood I think (not sure). I bough this going on 4 years ago (custom build).

In that time i've pretty much lost interest in the latest and greatest, however, I want to upgrade my ram

Now, im pretty sure at the time I bought a stick of value DDR 266 memory. I want to add in another 512 mb. Will 333 DDR work? Or do I need to try and source 266?

DDR333 will work, as will DDR400. However it will run at DDR266 speeds. Therefore no point buying expensive stuff - corsair value or similar should do fine

As dave's said, DDR400 (=PC3200) should work fine. I'm not sure if you'd be able to pull dual channel off at all...unlikely with differing batches of memory, but I wouldn't let this worry you...I'm sure you'll find the extra capacity more useful than what this would provide.
