    psu, which one?

Hello everyone, i'm a new kid on the block.
This might sound a bit thick but i'm thinking of building a new pc but i'm not sure what kind of power supply i will need.I will give you the specs and if anyone would like to make any suggestions please feel free. Any advice would be great.

Thermaltake shark case. (with 2 case fans)
    Asustech P5WD2 premium motherboard.
Intel D940 dual core processor (2x3.2ghz)
    Asus 7900GTX Graphics card.
    Thermaltake big water cooling kit.
as well as 2x 250gb hard drives.
    Sony DVD drive.
    CD drive.

Thats about it so was thinking of buying A Dabs extreme tagan 480w psu, do you think this will provide enough power?

    Tagans are good PSUs.
If you think that you might get a 2nd GTX at some point for SLI action then maybe a higher wattage than the 480 though.
& everybody will say why not get a Conroe ....

    MSI P55-GD80, i5 750
    abit A-S78H, Phenom 9750,

If you want the best psu, then I believe OCZ is the way to go, however they are a bit expensive.
In regards to the rest of your system, I would go for the 7950 gx2 over the 7900gtx.
The 7950 gx2 kicks arse and is not much more than 7900gtx (should cost less than 10% more)

Thanks everyone, read your replys and decided to get the seasonic S-12 600W only a few quid more than the one i was going to get. As for the graphics card issue, i'm still undecided on the 7900GTX or the 7950 GX2, i suppose in the long run having a 7900GTX, then if i want to add another card in the future it will cost me more than 1 7950 GX2.We will see!

Thanks to you all for your advice.

Please let us know how you get on with the Seasonic - it's what I recommend as well.

I have an older one (Tornado 400) and am happy with it but someone here bought the Seasonic S12 and wasn't happy with the cabling.

noveltylamp. Thanks for the info but have already ordered everything.

As soon as it all gets here i will start to build it and then my daughter can have this pile of rubbish. As for the seasonic, will let you all know what its like,if i have any probs will post it. Regarding the graphics card i have decided to opt for the 7950 GX2 as i have read some really good reviews about it, it is a bit more expensive but it should do the job.

    Thanks.

Had my Tagan 530W EasyCon for over 9 months now and not had a single problem with it, have never heard it in my system and it is now cheaper than it was when I got it, might consider the 580W version if you do plan on the SLI route. Or the Hyper Type-R has won a lot of people over.
"I've heard there is a common problem with this item from forums" - If you read some forums they believe Elvis was abducted by aliens, doesn't mean it's true.

It is the one part I always find hard to recommend, the psu, it is so crucial to a system. There allways seems to be some brand going through a dodgy batch, or having issues with certain boards and I mean the the better brands. Look at what people are using and buying just now. There was also a great round up of psu testing done by hexus, not sure where the link is, have a search. If I was buying, personally I would go for a FSP, you will probably find that they make more than just their own brand
