    Help! Computer just died! :(

    Hi,

I was just sitting at my computer, as usual, listening to some music and writing a Word document when I get the blue screen of death (I'm running Windows XP professional).

I don't have time to read it before my system reboots itself. It tries to load Windows but I get another blue screen before it can saying that there might be errors on my hard drive due to a hardware fault and it won't let me go any further.

So I reboot again but this time nothing. All I get it a series of beep coming from my motherboard (one long beep, repeated every 2 seconds or so).

I ripped my computer down to just the CPU, motherboard, RAM and video card (full machine spec is in my sig) and still got the same beeping. I removed the video card and still the same.

Does anyone know what my problem might be? Dead CPU? Dead RAM? Dead motherboard?

    Thanks.

look up the beep code from the mobo manufacturer's website, it should tell you what's up

edit: actually it's the bios brand which matters.. which is yours? Award?

edit2: it would appear to be a ram related problem - http://www.hardcoreware.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3148

0800 013 0330 is the number you need to get an RMA number. A mate had to return some memory a couple of months back, and found them helpful and fast as you would expect with Crucial.

Yup, RAM is in perfectly condition (apart from the fact that it doesn't work ) and is now sitting in a static bag.

    Thanks for the help guys.
